Crater Lake NP:

• The rim drive may not be fully open in early summer due to snow
• cell phone service is very limited and may not be available beyond park entrance
• Arrive early. Traffic can be heavy when entering the park and lines may be long. Also there is limited parking which fills up quickly
• If you plan on visiting multiple National Parks throughout the year, it would be beneficial to buy the annual pass
• bring snacks for kids, there is limited places to eat inside the park

The Coast:

• Check the tide charts. It is always important to be aware of tide changes, but especially when tide pooling, the tide must be low.
• Plan trip well in advance. Not only are rooms around the coast pricey, but the best ones also sell out fast. Get them while they are available
• Pack Layers -even in the summer months, weather may be cool, especially in the evenings, along the coast. 
• Driving from south to north is the best route for accessing scenic pull-offs for ocean views

Portland:

• Multnomah Falls requires a timed- entry ticket. Be sure to book ahead of time as timeslots fill up quickly
